High-visibility protective clothing for high-risk situations
This standard specifies the requirements for high-visibility warning clothing to visually alert people of the user's presence.
It includes performance requirements for colours and retroreflection.
There are three approved fluorescent colours: yellow, orange and red.
For risk assessment, high-visibility clothing is grouped into three high-risk classes, with Class 3 representing the highest level of protection. Designs must adhere to required surface areas for the background and reflective materials. They should also be measured in their smallest possible size when closed.
Minimum visible area in m²:
Class 1 | Class 2 | Class 3 | |
Fluorescent materials | 0,14m² | 0,50m² | 0,80m² |
Retroreflective materials | 0,10m² | 0,13m² | 0,20m² |
Please note:
The minimum visible areas must never be hidden by logos, labels etc.
