"We are all the actors in our journey"
Interview with Franck Munoz
What's your position in the company?
I have been the Director of the Pest Control Business Unit since July 2018.
When did you start at Elis and what was your position?
I started in 1989 as a Service Agent.
Can you outline your career path at Elis?
I found out about Elis through a summer job and started as a Service Agent in 1989. My job was to supply customers and retain them through customer service and new product development.
In 1993, I progressed to the position of Supervisor, which was a springboard to then going on to manage a team. My line manager was instrumental in my success through the daily support he provided me with and in 1995, I became Customer Service Manager overseeing a team of eight people.
This experience allowed me to discover the world of management, the importance of listening and organisation, and to strengthen my sense of achievement.
Seven years later in 2002, the Group offered me the responsibility of opening a Profit Centre in Aveyron as Distribution Centre Manager. This experience was the most engaging of all and one of the most exciting roles I could have wished for! We started with three people and three years later we were a team of fifteen. In light of the results I achieved, I took on the responsibility for larger sites in the following years.
I left the group for two years to be Sales Director at another company. I then returned to Elis in 2010, with the Group offering me a position heading up the regional sales department for the southwest and progressing to senior management.
Since 2018, I have been Director of a Business Unit, with the mission of developing the Pest Control service in France and Europe. We are a team of 21 people operating as a start-up that relies on the Elis network. We are operational, regulatory marketing and sales support all rolled into one. It's exciting to say the least!
How has the Group supported you over your career?
The Group has supported me over these years by encouraging my professional development. It offered me opportunities for progression, taking into account my skills, motivation and goals.
The men and women that I have crossed paths with in the company have also been pivotal to my career path.
As part of this process, I received training that allowed me to acquire the necessary qualities to carry out new tasks.
Would you say that your case is unique or that being promoted internally is fairly widespread?
A number of my colleagues have had a similar experience to my own. Internal promotion is widespread and in the DNA of the Elis Group.
In my BU team, 14 out of 21 people were promoted internally at least once!
