Meet Eoin Collins in Ireland
No matter what part of the company I have been involved with, I have been lucky enough to work with great teams that have helped me become the person I am today.
His evolution at Elis
Eoin Collins, currently Healthcare and Hospitality Director, reflects on his journey:
"Elis has provided me with an environment where I have been supported and coached in each new position I have undertaken within the business, giving me the confidence to pursue new positions, including moving into new sectors of the business."
Eoin references the fact that during his 10 years at Elis he has been mentored by a manager who recognised his potential and encouraged him to take on new roles including sales, key account management, customer services and operations, providing him with the opportunity to develop his commercial experience.
"No matter what part of the business I have worked in, I have been fortunate to work with great teams and those experiences have helped me develop into the person I am today. Until I took up my new position I had worked exclusively on the ICS side of the business, so I am enjoying the opportunity to develop my knowledge of the linen sector and support our healthcare and hospitality customers."
Eoin's advices and goals
Eoin's advice for progress:
- Work hard to achieve your goals in life
- Look for opportunities and challenges that will give you new experiences, new perspectives
He adds, "I think it's very important to understand your teams role and what challenges they face so that you can help and support them to become a cohesive and high performing team. I am a firm believer that you should never ask someone to do anything that you are not prepared to do yourself"
His goals:
"In my new role my goal is to learn as much as I can about our linen business while supporting my teams in the five plants that I have responsibility for. As the premier provider of flat linen in Ireland we constantly strive to further enhance the reliability of our operations with timely service and exemplary customer service."
A story to share
"I believe we should always be on the look-out for talent, I love to see colleagues advance within Elis. Many members of my team have started out as service agents and then moved to areas such as customer service etc. One lady who had a Master in Engineering was promoted Production Night Supervisor."
"We should all remember to look beyond the surface to see the opportunities for development within our teams" - Eoin Collins
