Asian hornet
The Asian hornet is an invasive species originating from Asia, recently introduced in France. It has a complete metamorphosis cycle (egg, larva, nymph, and adult). In case of danger, the Asian hornet can sting successively while retaining its stinger, and at each sting, venom is injected into the blood.
It feeds mainly on bees, flies, and caterpillars, but also ripe fruits and nectar. It makes its nest with cellulose fibers that it transforms into a paste, making it strong enough to protect it from rain or wind.
Asian hornets are very dangerous to humans due to their venom, which can cause death.
